Lady in the water?
This is a story told to me by a friend. I had just come back from my summer holiday in London, where I had bought a book about mysterious places in Britain, and because of it we were talking about unexplained phenomena.
She told me that five or six years ago, a group of friends that she’s vaguely acquainted with was hanging around at a park late in the evening. They were messing around with a digital camera, as those were still pretty new around that time, and decided to make some pictures. The small lake (we don’t do big lakes here in The Netherlands) in the park looked very beautiful, so they took a lot of pictures of it.
Afterwards they went to one of the friends’ house to look at the pictures. It was then that they saw something strange in one of the pictures they took of the lake. It seemed like there was this body of a woman, floating just underneath the surface of the water. They immediately went back to the park to check what they had seen, but the lake was empty, no body or anything.
But that’s not the end of it. The group e-mailed the photo, along with the story, to their friends, who in turn forwarded it to even more people. All this means that a lot of people had the picture saved on their computer - not just in their inboxes but in their ‘downloads’ folder as well.
Forward a few months (my friend didn’t know exactly how much later this was), the friend whose computer the pictures were stored on thought about the story and started looking for the picture of the woman. But, and this is the really weird part, they couldn’t find it, as if the picture had vanished from their computer. And none of the people who had the picture saved on their computers could find it either.
Sadly, my friend couldn’t remember exactly who were involved in this, and the one person she thought was hadn’t heard of this story before, so I couldn’t do any more research. But I think the fact that the picture has vanished from EVERYONE’s computers is still pretty freaky. Big governmental conspiracy? Or something a bit more supernatural…?
