Not There

I don’t know if you would consider this a story about a Shadow Being or ghost. What do you think?

We used to live on the top section of what you might call townehouses. These ones had a row 2 story apartments on the ground with a second row of 2 story apartments on top. Our living room had huge windows/doors leading to the balcony that took up the whole wall. We never bothered with curtains because we were high enough up.

This particular day I was sitting on the floor in the living room doing homework at the coffee table. It was night, and with the light on in the living room the huge windows reflected the living room/ dining room area well. Behind the dining room was our small kitchen and the front door.

I knew my mom had a friend of hers, Joe, coming over so when I saw the shadow of a man in the reflection of the window I thought nothing of the fact that I never heard a knock, the door open, my mom coming down from upstairs to get the door, nothing. I saw the shadow clear as anything, so I turned towards the dining room where he was standing and started to say “Oh, hi Joe…” but half way through my sentence I noticed no one was there.

My mom came down then asking if her friend was there because she heard me talking, and I told her what I saw. Joe came by a few minutes later. But it was definitely weird…
